THE BEGINNING
OF OUR TIME
OF OUR TIME
“It has been many centuries, now. Many, many centuries piled upon thousands of years since this world, this universe, since these realms were forged by the Gods of our world. And yet I can still recall every detail of that time as if it were yesterday.” – Nikoleas Urau
Before the Creation, the world was but a sphere of dust and dirt, on which nothing could grow. There was no air to breath, nor trees to shelter under; there were no water sources to drink from. It was a barren wasteland of the worst kind. It was nothing; a blank page on which nothing should have been written on. But despite that, the Gods chose it to create their Utopia, and so the formation of the world as it is now known, began. Juudas took the North, Korvhan took the East, Niare took the South and Sien took the West.
The North would be dubbed as Edil-Amandrah by Juudas, the wise. Its creation was a slow one, as Juudas is an overly patient, and paid a lot attention to detail. He created oceans of water, and called it the ‘Sea’. Where the Sea ended, Juudas created a bank of sand that went on for miles. It was a land created in the image of a tropical paradise.
The East, in the time, was not yet named; and would not be for thousands of years. Its God, Korvhan the Beast, would take an even longer time to create it than Juudas made his. He made patches of forests, here and there. It was figured that he would, as the Beast had always been a nature affiliated God. Eventually, after many years, the forests stretched out to cover the entire land in the East.
In the Southern lands Niare created her realm in the image of her own home; deserts of orange sand that stretched for miles under a burning, hot sun. But for all the harshness of her realm, Niare prided herself over it. Strength came with a rough life, she found, and what better place to grow strength then a harsh desert such as hers? Eventually, Niare came to name her realm Ekzon-ra.
To the West, Sien’s realm was an eerie one, cloaked in a never ending twilight of his own making. He carved it from no particular image, and merely scattered different terrain here and there. For he cared not for his realm, but the power it would help to provide. Sien called his realm Azrazel.
After a time, the Gods called a counsel. Centuries had passed since they had seen the likes of each other, or another living thing for that matter. With the creation of the base of their world, their would-be Utopia, it was time to develop it further. At first, they merely created the creatures of the land; half breeds and mixes of the creatures they had come to know in their vast lifetimes. But eventually, their attention turned towards creating creatures that held certain likeliness to themselves. The Gods were a long lived race who rarely ever reproduced. The only other beings of the other worlds were demi-Gods mixes, terrible half breeds and creatures that they had come to know as ‘humans’. But it was not any of these races that the Gods wished to inhabit their perfect world to be. No, instead they decided to create entirely new races; the likes of which would be entirely different to the ones they had come to know.
Juudas was the first to test and breach the limits of creation; to create a creature in his image. He created a being that looked like him, yet with noticeable differences, and siphoned its level of power and capability as the Gods had agreed to do. What he created at first was a male replica that looked human enough, yet wasn’t. Its capabilities far surpassed that of any normal being. It took days for Juudas to properly develop the being’s mind, and enhance it to perfection. He added things, here and there; wings, powers, specialties, until he was satisfied with it. He had created something that was not a human or a beast, nor a God or a descendent of a God, but at the same time everything. He called the new race he had created ‘Malaki’, or angels, and made many more to populate Edil-Amandrah.
Niare followed after Juudas, and using his methods, she created a race that was an image of herself. Niare was an Amazonian like women; muscled, strong features and brute strength. Her race began as a legion of female warriors whom all had exceptionally enhanced senses – the only traits that Niare found compelling in a warrior, as they would rely on their physical power. When her lover joined her, she eventually made male warriors for her race. She came to call the race, ‘Naoi’.
Eager to test the limits of creation and make his own race, Sien followed after the two. He was, however, strictly supervised in it’s creation by Juudas and Niare, as they were all too aware of the fact that he would take it to extreme levels beyond which they needed. He created a race that, like the others, was in his own image. Dark featured and cunning, slippery and power hungry. He gave them what enhanced abilities he could, however they were sorely limited as Juudas saw this race as a threat to their Utopia. Even though the God of Wisdom would have liked to destroy Sien’s creations, it was against the foundations of their world as they had created it. Sien called the race he created ‘Daemi’, or demons. They were said to be originally created, also, as to be the complete opposites of the Malaki.
Korvhan was the last to create his own race; a century later, under the guide of Juudas and his sister. They were not entirely in his image, but held the likeliness the other three races did to their creators. Korvhan’s race’s powers were akin to his own. Shape shifters who could take form of another creature or a plant; however the amount of which they could change into was limited. He called the race Metamorphi; shapeshifters. The males, whom could transform into a certain amount of different animals, and the females, whom could transform into a plant of the forest, also took on the personality traits of Korvhan. For a long time, they were as wild as him, and mostly uncivilized.
With the realms and new races created, the world became a Utopia for a brief amount of time. Thousands of years passed, and trouble began to brew; the source of that trouble coming from the South, in Azrazel. The first act that saw the other three Gods betrayed was when Juudas received the head of one of his Generals, whom had been on a scouting mission in Azrazel. What came after that was one of the most devastating wars the universe had ever known.
