THE GREAT WAR
“I do not believe one can account for the exact amount of devastation that the war had on this world. It is said to have been the most vicious, violent and overwhelming of all wars the universe had seen. Four of the strongest Gods, five powerful races… it was terrifyingly magnificent in its own right.” – Nikoleas Urau
Sien, the Illusive God, was always said to be a cunning, tricky power hungry being. And while he was not typically evil, his goals and desires made him do evil things, of which he had no problem of doing. To get what he wanted, Sien would destroy his closest companion. To achieve his goals, Sien would use his own sister in his games. To grasp a hold of all the power in the world, Sien would kill a fellow God with no qualms. With the world that he had helped to create on the path to power, Sien was set on taking control of it.
Twenty or so thousand years had passed since the creation of the world. It is around this time that it was estimated when Sien created a new race; the ‘Aradi’; witches with powers that were superior to the other races. They were much like the Daemi, in a sense, but they had a lot more mind and finely tuned detail to them. It took a lot out of a God, however, to create a new race; so the Aradi, while powerful, were sparse. Not enough to complete and army with, despite the vastness of Daemi. After the threat that Sien had sent Juudas, a gifted head of one of the Malaki Generals who had stepped on Azrazel territory, he would have to move quickly in his plan; and so he did.
Getting his sister, Niare, to join his campaign was an easier thing said than done, but he eventually had her support – only by the sibling bonds that were so strong in the God race. Korvhan, with his own tart of a little sister, Talua, proved impossible to gain on his side, however. Sien was still confident that the strongest realm, Edil-Amandrah, could still be felled, however. As he had a Master of War, an army of specialized warriors and his on two, strong races for the campaign. Of course, a war against Korvhan and Juudas would have undoubtedly provided a kink in the chain of his plans. But no insight to the Illusive God’s mindset during the time of the Great War has ever been approached.
It was obvious to both Juudas and Korvhan that the impending war that threatened the world was going to be blown over easily. Their allegiance went without saying; Taravehan and Edil-Amandrah combined their forces together into a formidable army, even against the strength of Sien’s. For while their races weren’t overly powerful and nor were all of trained in the arts of war, their numbers were far greater then that of their opponent’s.
It was a summer’s day, on the borders between all realms when the first battles of The Great War began. They raged on for weeks, then drew apart and recuperated. Special Forces were sent out from both sides, intending to sabotage specific groups of higher powers in the armies. Many fell, during the war that lasted months on end. Forces were cut in half, and races came close to extinction.
When Niare and Korvhan came to face to face on the battle field, recounts tell of one an epic battle that lasted for days without break; in which mountains were leveled and gorges created, land burnt to ash and earth disrupted unnaturally. They both used brute strength and their particular elements; Niare controlled fire, and Korvhan the very earth beneath their feet. And while Niare’s battle experience that far surpassed Korvhan’s, and her extraordinary talent for fighting, she eventually fell to him on the seventh day of their fight. She died instantly, that day, with a smile on her face. She had fallen to someone worthy of killing her, and had died in a battle that any warrior would be honored to die in.
With Niare’s death, her title and rank as the God of Ekzon-ra fell to her oldest son, Lucivar. Young as he might have been, he understood that his Uncle’s war was coming to an end, and it would not be in Sien’s favor. He forfeited Ekzon-ra’s place in the war, and had what was left of the Naoi armies return to Zverani. Leaving an already vulnerable army of Daemi who’s numbers were waning to the mercy of a considerably larger amount of Malaki and Metamorphi. With the help of Korvhan to take control of the Aradi, Sien’s once great army was reduced to a pitiful force.
He was smart, the Illusive God, and wasn’t going to condemn his own life by being stubborn and choosing to continue to fight. It was said that Sien tried to retreat to another world, using the tricks and sorcery of old to transport him. Before he could escape, however, Juudas thwarted his attempts to save himself, and engaged the traitor in a battle that would see one God banished and another half lost. It was not vicious and malevolent as Korvhan and Niare’s, and they did not create a disastrous amount of damage to the earth; instead, theirs was a battle of pure power. It was a God’s battle, a fight of deathly elegance.
Tales say that the Gods moved not an inch, but merely chanted and acted and used the full force of their magic against each other. It was a more dangerous type of battle then Korvhan’s and Niare’s, as while it was not physical blows and close combat, it was the dealings of the mind, soul and body. They tore apart each other’s entire self with deadly efficiency. The battle didn’t last as long as the other’s; it went on for a matter of minutes, perhaps hours. But in that amount of time, more damage than one could imagine was dealt.
Sien was a relatively much younger God than Juudas was, but he was a powerful one; a prodigy, some might say. Each took a lot of damage that day; Juudas’ body was gravely hurt, and Sien’s mind was said to have been especially damaged. In the end, the outcome was inevitable, and Juudas succeeded as victor. However, it was at the heavy price, for his body and overall physical health was sorely fragile. Juudas was a strict follower of the unwritten laws that the Gods supposedly lived by, and as such despite what Sien had done and the damage he had caused, Juudas’ judgment was to only banish Sien from their Utopia, to an uninhabited, dead planet for as long as he lived.[/blockquote][/blockquote]
